Father's Day Weekend

What better way to spend Father's Day weekend than at the ballpark???
Good thing Boss loves coaching.

We started out Thursday with games in Columbia, MO for Bo's state tourney.

Chap is always pretending... here he's the ump.

I love this one of Boss coaching 3rd and Bo base running... he sometimes listens to dad ;)

On Friday, Jake and I headed to Springfield. He played 2 games that night.

Jake likes to pitch! At one of Bo's games I was explaining an intentional walk to Jake. He said
"so, you just tell them to go, you don't actually have to pitch 4 balls?"
"That's right."
To which Jake asked "why wouldn't you just hit them with the pitch???"
That sounded like much more fun to him. :)

Can't fail to mention the Honey Moon we saw that night.

Saturday Jake and I cheered on Deacon at his 2 tournament games in Marshfield... all the while
Boss, Bo and Chap were still winning games in Columbia. (I'm so mad I didn't get pics of Deacon!)

Deacon's tourney got rained out so we headed back to Columbia to watch the Libs in the final 4!

They ended up with 4th Place at the USSSA "AA" State Tourney. Every boy had either a dad or grandpa at the game!!! (Bo had both.)

Have I told you? I ♥ Banner Boys! I pray these boys know what a gift they have with their dad. He is so involved in their lives! Read more about him here.

Chap ♥'s the hardware!

We can't seem to find time for a family picture, so this will have to do... it's probably most fitting.

We topped off the weekend on our way home by stopping in Eldon at the World Famous... CreeMee!!! and had a surprise visit from our Florida cousins. Perfect ending to a great weekend!

Deacon's "Ceremony" and the One Thing I Agree with the President About

We have often laughed at the below scene from the movie, The Incredibles. The very last part of this, he's complaining about 4th grade "graduation"... see if you agree??

A couple weeks ago, we got to experience this first hand.  Deacon had his 8th Grade Graduation/Ceremony. But what you say??? There's a ceremony and celebration for something that they're required by law to do? Yes, yes in fact there is. :-)

You will NEVER believe this, but I found something Obama and I agree on...
In a speech last Sunday at a Chicago church, Barack Obama took on the pomp and purpose of these ceremonies. “Now hold on a second — this is just eighth grade,” he said. “So, let’s not go over the top. Let’s not have a huge party. Let’s just give them a handshake.” He continued: “You’re supposed to graduate from eighth grade.”

Ok, enough of my cynicism... it was nice and I do really appreciate the school putting it together. It is a memory they will have and cherish.

Deacon gave the opening prayer & pledge.

(He was bothered when he saw this, that I took a pic during prayer. I assured him, someday he would appreciate it.)

Class of 2018 - Approximately 200 kids

Coach Fast gave a fast speech, recognizing what he'd learned from his students.  Deacon made the list... "if I want to talk politics or military strategy, I find Deacon."

Grandpa & Grandma Banner were happy to be there!

It was fun seeing all the girls dressed up, and boys too :-) Thanks again to Unc D for helping shop, the bow tie made the day.

So, congratulations Deacon and classmates... congratulations on moving from the 8th grade to 9th.

Testing a New App

What I want to do in my spare time, what I consider luxury time, my time... is to blog. That shows you just exactly how much I have (not much lately.) Recently I've been  checking out different apps that would allow me to post from anywhere. So.... here we go :-)
I'm going to post some recent pics, etc to test this out...
Not sure where the pics fall in, but that's why this is a test.
Why is Jake always doing his own thing?

And one last pic... shopping with sweet grandma & mom.
