Car Wash

Every time we drive by a car wash, Chapel gets so excited! He would be happy to wash our car everyday. This was our solution to his obsession. :) Jake kept hiding in it and jumping out and scaring Chap.

Kanakuk Kamps

Deacon and Bo went to Kanakuk Kamps this summer. Wow, what an experience and what a special place! Now I can't say anything without them saying a chant of some sort. My sister teased that they went to cheerleading camp. ;)

They have parties at night and get to dress up :)

Bo & Jace at K-Seven

What hams!
at K-Seven the boys sleep in teepee's... cool, huh?

Picking the boys up was the best!!! I never realized how much I would miss them in a week. Deacon was awarded the Faith on Fire award for Spiritual Faithfulness. His counselors said he was "adaptable & respectful." Bo got the I'm Third award for putting God 1st, Others 2nd & I'm 3rd. His counselors called him "determined & thoughtful". Bo also won the Hero award for his TeePee, being a hero, the most like Christ. We loved our Kamp experience and can't wait for next summer!

My Keratin Treatment

Last Wednesday I decided to see what all the excitement was about and get a Keratin Treatment. My friend, Amanda, works at Premiere Salon in Springfield and they are running a special for the month of August so I knew now was my chance. Keratin is a protein and it "fills all the holes" my porous hair has... we hope. :) I did a lot of online research before getting it done but never found any blogs about it, explaining all the details. I wear my hair curly most of the time so I was worried I would not be able to do that, but was brave and decided to try it anyway.
This is the hip, downtown Springfield Salon & the great stylist, Amanda... & me with frizzy hair.

Amanda started by washing my hair and then blow drying it completely.
We then headed over to the "Color Bar" to put in the actual treatment.
This took about 20-30 minutes. The smell was pretty strong, she described it like tanning oil but Dwain later decided my hair smelled like buttered popcorn... he loved me even more! ;)
I then sat with a cap for 20 minutes... embarrassed about this pic but oh well.

Check out my new favorite shoes... I was bored & had a camera.

Not rinsing out the treatment, Amanda then dried & and flat ironed my hair. You should not wear much make-up because my eyes did water quite a bit!
WaaLaa... my hair was straight... & would be for 3 days now. The instructions I went home with were as follows:
Ugh... I never realized how much I love my pony-tails! Well I obeyed and finally on Saturday I got to wash my hair!
You have to use this special shampoo & conditioner but it smells great!!!

I was dieing to know if I could wear my hair curly so I decided to try that first. It was a lot more relaxed curl than I was use to but with a few curls added with the curling iron, I loved the loose curl look.
Sunday morning I washed and dried it and was AMAZED that it was completely straight. I really wouldn't have had to use the flat-iron but I have some split ends that needed smoothing out. It use to take me 30+ minutes to straighten my hair and now... maybe 10.

I wish you could reach through the computer and feel how soft my hair is now. I can't keep my hands off of it. If you wear your hair straight, THIS IS FOR YOU!!! Ok, here's the deal, Premiere's special only runs through August so HURRY and call Amanda at 417-399-6587 and book an appt. Be sure and tell her I sent you and enjoy your new, soft, straight hair!!!

Football Banners

The Banner boys have started a new sport! For the first time ever we have a football player... pads & all!  Deacon absolutely loved his first practice! He loved tackling the most. I asked him what position a friend played and he said "Quarterback... and I can see why... he's not very good at tackling." Dwain and I have laughed  and laughed about that... when someone can't tackle you stick them at QB ;).

Jake is playing flag football, this is interesting. He lost his mouthpiece the first practice. I told him I was going to attach it like a pacifier. When I asked him if he was the fastest on the team he said "No, Blake is. I guess I need to get on a treadmill and turn it on max." haha... these boys are so fun!!!

Oh Chapel

Chapel and I had to make an emergency t-shirt delivery to OKC this week. Luckily I got to spend some time with my parents while we were there. We went to the local Mexican restaurant and my dad ordered this... "Whale of a Dish" scary looking, huh?  Chapel thought is was so cool he asked for the head...
 and after inspecting...
my brother said it looked like the fish was Chapel's chew toy. :)

Jonnifer

My childhood (& adulthood) friend came to visit me. We grew up together in Oklahoma then she moved to my town after college, met her husband, then he moved her off. :( They now live in Wyoming and I miss them so much!! Jennifer is her name and her husband, Jonathan... Deacon grew up calling them both Jonnifer.
these two were quite the pair

Silly Pics

Sometimes the boys use my camera without me knowing and I find some silly pics... Enjoy!

And today I realized it was time to put Chap down for a nap but couldn't find him. After looking everywhere I found this tired boy :)
