Stages of Democracy

Some thoughts about our country... We are doing The Truth Project in our Sunday night homegroup, and this week's lesson was on "The American Experiment: Stepping Stones". Dr. Tackett pointed out a lot of things, but something that keeps running through my head is the dependency our country has on the government. The government takes over our lives more and more each day, believe me, we see it a lot in business. There are so many rules and regulations, paperwork, etc. I was discussing this with mom and she shared with me something she ran across awhile back, which seems so true and is alarming.

The Stages of Democracy

Spiritual Faith
Great Courage

A lot of the founders of our country recognized without morality, freedom would not work. Is that where we are? Listen to these quotes:

"... only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters." Benjamin Franklin
"We have no government armed in power capable of contending in human passions unbridled by morality and religion... Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." John Adams
"To preserve the government we must also preserve morals. Morality rests on religion; if you destroy the foundation, the superstructure must fall. When the public mind becomes vitiated and corrupt, laws are nullity and constitutions are waste paper. " Daniel Webster
Ok, it's scary that I posted this without my sisters proofing, but I can make changes. Sorry for all the writing and no pictures. I just wanted to catalog these thoughts. Back to the scrapbooking later this week :)! California pictures soon! Yeah!
